Report, Block, Settings or Take a break

Instagram has a clear policy that does not allow Nudity.

Their Community Guidelines state:

We don’t allow nudity on Instagram. This includes photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks

This means that reporting a nude image is quite straight forward and should quickly be taken down.

To report a post:

  1. Tap the THREE DOTS above the post
  2. Tap Report
  3. Select either 'It's Spam' or 'It's inappropriate'
  4. A new screen will open where you choose a reason for reporting the post/photo
  5. Select 'Nudity or pornography' and then REPORT

This screen also gives you the option to Block the user

To report a profile:

  1. Tap the THREE DOTS in the top right of the person's profile
  2. Tap Report
  3. Select either 'It's Spam' or 'It's inappropriate'
  4. A new screen will open where you choose a reason for reporting the account
  5. Select 'I belive this account violates Instagram's Community Guidelines'
  6. You then need to choose from 'Report a photo, video or comment' and 'Report Account'.  Select 'Report Account'
  7. On the next screen, choose 'Posting inappropriate content'
  8. Then on the next screen choose 'nudity or pornography', REMEMBER making a selection on this page submits your report.

If you don't have an Instagram account, you can report Nudes or anything else that doesn't follow their Community Guidelines by using THIS FORM.

When you block someone, that person won't be able to find your profile, posts or story on Instagram.

People aren't notified when you block them.

To block someone:

  1. Tap their username to go to their profile
  2. Tap the THREE DOTS  in the top-right
  3. Tap Block

After you block someone, their likes and comments are not removed from your photos and videos.

By default, anyone can view your profile and posts on Instagram.

You can make your posts private so that only followers you approve can see them.

If your posts are set to private, only your approved followers will see them in the Photos tab of Search & Explore or on hashtag or location pages. Posts can't be set to private from a desktop computer.

To set your posts to private from the Instagram app on iOS:

  1. Go to your profile by tapping the person icon
  2. Tap the three dots
  3. Turn on the Private Account setting

To set your posts to private from the Instagram app on Anroid:

  1. Go to your profile page.
  2. Click the (three dot setting button) in the top right corner.
  3. Then scroll down to the private account option
  4. Press 'OK' When it asks you if you want to change your account to private

Things to keep in mind about private posts:

  • Private posts you share to social networks may be visible to the public depending on your privacy settings for those networks. For example, a post you share to Twitter that was set to private on Instagram may be visible to the people who can see your Twitter posts.

  • Once you make your posts private, people will have to send you a follow request to see your posts, your followers list or your following list.

  • Follow requests appear in the heart icon Activity, where you can approve or ignore them.

  • If someone was already following before you set your posts to private and you don't want them to see your posts, you can block them.

  • People can send a photo or video directly to you even if they’re not following you.

If your account is Set to Private, you can remove people from your followers list:

  1. Go to your profile
  2. Tap Followers at the top of the screen
  3. Tap the THREE DOTS to the right of the follower you'd like to remove, then select Remove

When you remove a follower, they aren't notified that you've removed them.

You can also block someone to get them to stop following you. People aren't notified when you block them.

Taking a break from your Social Media can give you the chance to step away from the hurt and spend time with people you care about doing things you enjoy.

If you temporarily disable your account, your profile, photos, comments and likes will be hidden until you reactivate it by logging back in.
